Antiqued Bridge
This pond at the Japanese Garden in Pasadena, California may be my all time, favorite pond. The fact that it has a weeping willow right on it's bank works well in it's favor. The weeping willow is definitely my favorite tree. It has a nostalgic presence and seems to decorate, sooth, and protect at the same time.
My husband and I used to get to visit this garden every year. We were fortunate enough to chaperone the annual Art History field trip for the school where he taught. I miss those field trips! As soon as we would arrive at the Huntington, I would make a beeline for the Japanese Garden, stopping only to take pictures along the way.
I actually started working this image, got stuck and tucked it away. A couple years later, as I was doing some hard drive up-keep, I stumbled upon it and couldn't do anything else until it was finished. Because of this, it is sort of a hybrid of styles. It has elements from my past work flow, as well as aspects of a more modern work flow.
