We had the honor of attending my cousin's wedding. It was a gorgeous day and a very intimate and fun event. It was the first wedding that my daughters had the fortune of attending, and they loved every minute of it. My oldest was ecstatic to learn that when the bride threw the boquet, whoever caught the flowers would get to keep them! Really, it doesn't get much better than a bunch of flowers to a little girl (unless you add a balloon and a pony). Needless to say, when all the single ladies lined up behind the bride, my daughter was right there. Up went the boquet into the air and up went all the single ladies to catch. My daughter's feet didn't budge from where she stood. I'm pretty sure that she believed that the boquet would somehow make it's way to her outstretched arms, it did not. Instead, a slightly older girl caught the boquet and my daughter was crushed. She didn't cry (or maybe she did, it's hard to believe there weren't tears involved and I may be remembering incorrectly), but her disappointment was evident. I gave her a hug in attempts to console her, that is when the unexpected happened. The little girl who had caught the boquet, came over (without prompting) and gave the flowers to my daughter. It was a selfless act and showed how much compassion that girl possesed (which I found remarkable at such a young age). My daughter was thrilled, to say the least. This picture reminds me of that day, the kindness the girl showed, and how young the dreams of future marriage can arise in the heart of a girl.
