WhatHeShuts

When I took this image, I was drawn in by the lines and composition, the texture, and even the different patches of color. As I was editing the images from my trip to Chicago, I kept it in my chosen group because of those things, this image appeals to me visually. However, I continually skipped over it as I chose which images to process. It just didn't seem to fit with the rest of my subject matter. I generally photograph subjects that illustrate God's creation and personality and at first glance, this sealed up wall just didn't fit the bill for me, until tonight. Tonight as I was praying, the scripture, "What He opens no one can shut, and what He shuts no one can open," kept coming to my mind. As I was thinking of that scripture, this image popped into my head and I had to process it. The scripture is in Revelation 3:7 (I had to look it up, I had no idea where it was) and the full verse reads, "To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write:

There are also times in life that we open doors that we should never open, or we cluelessly enter into already open doors that we stumble upon in our hearts. These doors lead only to our own destruction (and the destruction of those around us) and contain lies from an enemy that are meant to ensare us, sometimes even behind the guise of freedom, "Hey, the door is open, you can leave any time." Those are the doors that we can be powerless to shut without the help of the Holy Spirit, but rest
