Can peace and quiet really exist in such close proximity to a big city like Chicago? Yes, it can. This fall tree stands within view of the Sears Tower and even though it is right off of Lake Shore Drive, quietness exists in this space. The space where time seems to stand still and a small child lies sleeping in the car with his mother, while his aunt enjoys the scenery and the stillness of the late afternoon. In the car, just feet away, my sister works rapidly. Finishing last minute projects needed for the big event. I, on the other hand, get a break. A break to enjoy the beauty of nature transposed against the manmade beauty of the city. The stillness in front of hustle and bustle. The silent changing of the seasons, evident in a way that only God can create. Looking just at the far off buildings, one would never know what season it is, yet the trees will tell you, it's fall, time to rest and prepare for the polar vortex ahead.
