We came across this small lighthouse on our walk through Pratt Boulevard Park in Evanston, Illinois. It sits at the end of a long pier and even though the glass for the encasing was broken, the light appeared to still be working. It was a cold and windy day and my daughter had a hard time walking straight along the pier. I had a hard time focusing on what I was photographing becaue she and my neice were being blown (and pretending to be tossed about even more than they really were) from one side of the walkway to the other. If they weren't coming dangerously close to falling into the frigid water below, this would have been no big deal, but they were. I had to stop taking pictures and rush them back to the drier land just so my heart would stop racing. With this image, I couldn't quite decide how to process it, so I made two versions. I hope you enjoy them both and I would love to hear which you prefer and why.
