Huntington Rose

It was a rainy day at the Huntington Library when I took this image. I was walking with my camera wrapped in a plastic bag and tucked underneath my jacket. I only pulled it out when I was ready to shoot. Fortunately, the rain slowed down a bit when I arrived at the rose garden. I love how this solitary rose, though beaten down, and away from it's trellis by the rain, still seemed to stand somewhat erect as the bud on it's stem faced the sky in hopes of a glimpse of sunlight.

The original was photographed with black and white infrared film. I scanned it into the computer and colored it in Photoshop.
