FullyKnown

It’s easy to forget that we don’t have a full view of our reality in this life. We see things in part, but not fully. Our understanding of circumstances are shaped by the lenses of our past and our beliefs and unless they line up completely with God’s Word, they are skewed from true reality. This piece speaks to that phenomenon. The images in the background show the young dancer through “a mirror dimly”. In them, she has been distorted just a bit to where she is appears wider and shorter than she truly is in real life. I think that teen girls often view themselves this way. The main image that comes to the front of the piece is bright and clear, and in it she appears to be coming out from the water, or mirror, that has blocked her view for so long. I believe that the closer we come to God, the more we listen to who He says we are, the more we ask to view ourselves and others through His eyes, the more clearly we see and the lighter, and more confident we become. God has the true perspective and only through Him can we see accurately. We won’t achieve perfect vision while on this earth, but through Him and the tools faith, hope, and love that He gives us, we can see more clearly.

The piece is based on I Corinthians 13:12 which reads, “For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully just as I also have been fully known.”
