This candle stood, glowing in celebration at the wedding reception of my cousin and his beautiful bride. The late afternoon sun was streaming in, bending around and curving through all of the colorful glass beads that held the candle safely and securely in the center of the bowl.

To me this is such a great illustration of marriage. The two become one, one team to go through life together and one flesh to stand strong in the Lord. Still, without their loved ones, surrounding them with loving and helpful intentions, it would be easy to get tossed about and tumble over while journeying through life. Marriage is a blessing and a treasure, and it is meant to be supported. Not only by the couple who has given themselves to each other, but also by those around them who have the opportunity to help them stand strong.
