I couldn't pass by without photographing this fallen leaf. I love the lines created by the two backgrounds it lays across. This, accompanied by the odd angle of the leaf's own stem and veins, divided the frame in a way that I could not resist. I added in a few textures using Photoshop, to enhance the look of natural decay. The leaf is actually laying on the pavement of a circular drive by a Chicago beach but it is not anywhere near the water. The water ripple lines have been added from an image of light reflecting on our Arizona swimming pool. The color of this leaf also drew me in, I love the yellow against the blue rocks of the pavement.
